How the name picker works
Every name becomes a ball in a virtual hopper. Press Drop a ball, the balls mix, and one drops out. Want someone to have better odds? Give them more balls, like buying extra raffle tickets. After each draw you decide whether the winner goes back in, loses one ball, or comes out completely, so you can draw once or work through the whole list without repeats.
Got a long list? Use Paste a list in the editor to add all your names at once, one per line; add ", 3" after a name to give it 3 balls.
Common uses
- Giveaways: pick a winner from your entrants.
- Classrooms: call on students at random. Remove each name after it's picked so nobody goes twice.
- Chores and shifts: hand them out at random.
- Teams: draw names one at a time to split people up.
- Tie-breaks and quick decisions: let the balls choose.
Frequently asked questions
How do I make sure nobody is picked twice? After each draw, choose Remove whole result. That name is out of the pool for the next draws.
Can I give some names better odds? Yes. Change the number next to a name. A name with 3 balls is three times as likely to come up as a name with 1.
